Country Information

Korea boasts one of the fastest-growing industrial sectors in the world, making it an exciting place for employees to live and work. Korea, with approximately 3.7 million units produced in 2005, was the fifth-largest vehicle producer behind the United States, Japan, Germany, and China.

In addition, Korea is home to GMDAT, Hyundai, Kia, Renault-Samsung and Ssangyong. Delphi, a world leader in mobile electronics and transportation components and systems technology, works closely with all five and others to provide localized components, technology leadership, systems support, and a global support network.

Delphi Presence

Delphi's growth in Korea has paralleled the expansion of the Korean economy. In 1970, Korea produced a modest 29,000 vehicles. By 2005, that number grew to 3.7 million. Likewise, Delphi began modestly in Korea, with just five employees in 1989 as a subsidiary of General Motors Korea. (Delphi became a completely independent company in 1999.) Now Delphi Korea's customers include not only the Korean manufacturers, but also some of the most prominent vehicle manufacturing companies in the world.

Delphi Korea's Munmak plant is continually growing. Recently we strengthened our security and safety systems and expanded our vehicle test equipment. The company also has met customer demands for airbag and seatbelt testing by building two new sled test facilities in 2007. Our new facility will also be able to simulate and test pitching, intrusion, and oblique factors.
